Environmental Governance
Department for Infrastructure, Northern Ireland
FothergillTC was commissioned for a multi-year environmental governance enhancement project with the planning teams across Northern Ireland's councils and the Department. The project includes: Development and gaining IEMA accreditation for two Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) training courses, creation of practical EIA guidance and establishment of an Environmental Officers Forum to catalyze knowledge sharing and capacity enhancement between all parties.

FothergillTC has won a series of Innovation Grant from the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), across the following topics:

Circular Economy Training & Research
with both British Standards Institute (UK) and RISE Viktoria (Sweden)
Our expertise in the Circular Economy (CE) and experience in developing BS8001 and work on ISO's TC323 Circular Economy standards, have led a number of CE related training and research projects:
With BSI we have delivered circular economy training to both business and the Welsh Government, based on our practical CE training courses.
We also worked as a key part of the RISE Viktoria TRACE EMS project, which studied the role Environmental Management Systems (EMS) could play in enabling CE progress in and across organisations, and how BS8001's advice could catalyze this. Read an article on the outcomes here.
EIA - Expert Advice & Peer Review
UK Utility Companies
FothergillTC has provided expert advice across project Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and plan-level Strategic Environmental Assessment to UK based utility companies. We are currently providing expertise and advice on both the strategic direction and practical detail of how to address the complex environmental assessment requirements (legislative and policy) related to long-term water resource planning. In relation to such projects, we have also provided intelligent client and project management services to oversea the work of consultants hired to carry out the assessments for our clients.
